Baabdath’s borders:

Bordered by the east by Mar Moussa and Douar, by the west by Mar Chaaya and Broumana, by the north Daher el Souann and Bhannes and from the South by Jaamany’s river also known as Beirut’s river.

Baabdath’s Location:

Baabdath is located in the center of the northern Metn area in Mount Lebanon district. It is found at the West of Beirut, is 22 km away from the district center, 25 km from the Mohafaza center in Baabda and 17km from the center of Jdeideh el Metn.

Baabdath is 800 meters above sea level and could reach 1050 in the summit. Its citizens count 8000 persons in winter and 1200 during the summer. It counts 2000 homes and 1952 voters. Name of “Saint Mama” .

Municipality’s presidencies:

In 1938 a treaty was issued allowing the mayor and his board (Tanios wakim Labaki - Farhoud Abboud & Youssef Assaf Bu Diwan) to give all the prerogatives given basically to municipalities’ councils, to the municipality. So the municipality were handled by Nassib Geryes Lahoud until 1941where a special committee was named in17 of July 1941 to handle Baabdath’s municipality works.

Nasri Geryes Lahoud as president and the members were Sleiman Daoud Corbani, Geryes Abdallah El Melki, Youssef Rachid Labaky, Jean Gebrayel, Saleh El Charabaty and Elias Ghandour El Charabaty.

In1943 the president of the municipality Nasri Lahoud submitted his resignation because of another official job. The municipality was dismembered and as the elder was Elias Ghandour, he handled the works.

In1944 the government named a special committee to handle works of the municipality, formed by Bechara Mikhael Lahoud as president, and the board by:

Iskandar Hanna El Charabaty, Farhoud Abboud El Melki, Louis Rachid Labaky, Geryes Youssef El Charabaty, and Nakad Bachir Corbany.

In1954 a municipality council was elected for the first time by the citizens.

Doctor Lahoud Lahoud was elected president and for the membership Tanios Rachid Labaky, Gerges Ghantous Labaky, Gerges Habib Melky, Salim Fayyad El Charabaty, Halim Bcharra El Charabaty, and Youssef Naaman Corbany were elected.

This municipality remained as such until the year 1958, as a law was issued by the government in the date of 6/1/1958 designating Nassib Geryes Lahoud as president and naming Antoine Saleh Charabaty as his vice-president. Selim Fayyad Charabaty, Geryes Habib Melky, Akel Mikhael Labaky, Sleiman Corbany, and Emile Salim Naoufal were assigned as members of the board.

Because of the president’s sickness and due to other political reasons Nassib Lahoud submitted his resignation on the 13^th of July, 1960 and so Salim Emile Naoufal was named to handle the municipality’s tasks.

Elected Council: 1963 

In 1963 a council of 10 members was formed presided by Doctor Michel Salhab.

The council remained until he lost his position in 1970, so all his rights went to the district governor until 1998 where general elections took place and an attorney at law, Assaad Labaky, headed the presidency.

In 2004 attorney at law Imad Labaky was elected for the presidency of the municipality of Baabdath.
